While the Samsung Galaxy S22 series is still out there somehow, with a launch date of January 2022, leaks and rumors are coming in thick and fast for all three devices in the line.
These are supposed to be the successors to the 2021 Samsung Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra, but the Samsung Galaxy Note 21 has also got the bigger shoe to fill, the canceled late 2021 flagships, which That's a lot of Samsung fans.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S22 RELEASE DATE
A Samsung Galaxy S22 release date is rumored to point to January 2022, but it doesn't say exactly when in January.
It makes sense though, as we expect Samsung to follow a schedule similar to its 2021 plans, where the company pushed its launch ahead of previous years and revealed the phone in mid-January. We have also heard that the phone may enter mass production in November, which will likely work for a January launch.
Does this mean we will see the Samsung Galaxy S22 series in January 2022? There are no guarantees, and a recent leak suggests that the company will instead push the phone back to release the delayed Samsung Galaxy S21 FE.
Or Samsung may decide to fall back to the default in its usual flagship release window and push the phone out in February or March. That said, the company may push the launch and announce the handset earlier as well.
This particular rumor has been suggested, with a leaker suggesting that the Samsung Galaxy S22 range may land in December.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S22 DESIGN
The regular S22 can measure 149.98 x 70.56 x 7.65mm, compared to 151.7x 71.2 x 7.9mm. And the Galaxy S22 Pro (not the Plus) could be 157.43 x 75.83 x 7.65mm for the S22 Pro; The S21 Plus was 161.5 x 75.6 x 7.8mm.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S22 DISPLAY
We may see a slightly different screen size with the Samsung Galaxy S22 range than with the Galaxy S21, with multiple sources claiming that the Galaxy S22 will have a 6.06-inch screen (down from 6.2-inch on the S21), the Galaxy S22 Plus will have a 6.06-inch screen (down from 6.2-inch on the S21). The 6.55-inch one (down from 6.7) and the S22 Ultra could have a 6.81-inch one (up from 6.8).
Additionally, this source claims that only the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will feature an LTPO display, which means it is likely to be the only model that has a variable refresh rate. It could also be the only one with a glass back, as the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus will be converted to plastic, with the standard S21 already plastic.
We've heard about the same size from another source with FHD+ resolution on the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus and 120Hz refresh rate paired with QHD+ on the Galaxy S22 Ultra.
SAMSUNG GALAXY S22 COLORS
We haven't heard many color leaks yet, but a source claims that the colors could be different from last year.
He says the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus will come in white, black, rose gold, and green, while the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will come in black, white, or dark red color options.
For reference, the Samsung Galaxy S21 comes in Violet, Grey, White, and Pink, the S21 Plus comes in Black, Silver, Gold, Violet, and Red, and the S21 Ultra in Black, Silver, Titanium, Navy, and Brown.
So the Samsung Galaxy S22 shade of green could be quite different from anything we've seen from the current model if this leak is true.
SAMSUNG GALAXY S22 CAMERA
On the camera front, we've heard from a leaker that the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus will have a 50MP main sensor, 12MP ultra-wide, and 12MP telephoto (capable of 3x optical zoom), which will be plenty. Changes from their predecessors' 12MP main, 12MP ultra-wide, and 64MP telephoto, and we've heard a similar claim from another source.
This 50MP camera could be unveiled in September, as one leaker thinks Samsung will reveal its new ISOCELL snapper then, which includes a 50MP one as well as a new 200MP sensor.
It also seems that the Galaxy S22 will not have a 3D time-of-flight (ToF) sensor on the rear camera setup. It's no real surprise — it wasn't even on the Galaxy S21 — but it might disappoint those who wanted it to make a comeback.
As for the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, a report originally suggested that it could feature a 200MP main camera and an under-display selfie camera. Further reports since then have suggested that Samsung will not include a 200MP sensor, and instead, it will go for a 108MP sensor with a "polished" one that we haven't seen in previous versions.
We've heard similar reports elsewhere, suggesting that the Galaxy S22 Ultra will have a 108MP main camera, two 12MP telephoto ones, and one 12MP ultra-wide, while the camera configurations in the other two models leaked above. (a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide, and a 12MP telephoto).
Their zoom capabilities could be similar to the S21 range, with the S22 and S22 Plus said to offer 3x optical zoom and the S22 Ultra to offer both 3x and 10x. It's a claim we've heard several times now, though one source points to the zoom snapper being 10MP instead of 12MP.
That said, we have now heard the 200MP claim again, along with the claim that the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will have a Penta-lens camera with Olympus technology. That Olympus partnership is also something we've heard of more than once.
The rumored under-display selfie camera is looking much less certain, with a source saying it won't be on the Galaxy S22 because the quality isn't high enough, the camera is still a bit visible at the bottom of the screen, and Samsung is not one of them right now. Can't build enough.
One source also says to expect continuous optical zoom, meaning all zoom levels up to its maximum optical (likely 10x) will be optical, with most phones falling back to digital or hybrid zoom for the mid-zoom range. Is.
However, given that multiple sources point to two zoom cameras on the S22 Ultra, we're not convinced it will even sport continuous optical zoom, as having two shouldn't be so necessary.
SAMSUNG GALAXY S22 BATTERY
As far as the battery is concerned, a leak has suggested a 3,800mAh battery in the Samsung Galaxy S22, 4,600mAh in the Galaxy S22 Plus, and 5,000mAh in the Galaxy S22 Ultra. All those sizes will be a slight downgrade on the Galaxy S21 range, except for the S22 Ultra, which will have a similarly sized battery when done right.
Elsewhere we've heard that the battery on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus could be even smaller, at 4,500mAh. That size has now been seen multiple times, as 5,000mAh for the Galaxy S22 Ultra.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 meanwhile could get a smaller 3,700mAh battery according to multiple sources - that would be the 'typical' capacity (which is what is advertised), while the 'rated' capacity would be 3,590mAh, and that's a claim. Which we've heard three times now.
In addition, Samsung itself has confirmed that it will not include a charger in the box with future smartphones, so you should expect to buy a separate charger with your Samsung flagship if you are not already equipped with one.
And information has also surfaced about the charging speed Samsung is testing 45W or 65W power. Either would be a huge improvement over the S21 series' 25W, although the S20 Ultra had 45W.
Notably, there was rumored to be 45W powering, but only on the S22 Ultra. This figure is well below the competition, with other mid-range and premium Android handsets ranging from 65W to 120W.
There is also a chance that the entire range will be stuck with 25W charging, as a certification listing suggests.
SAMSUNG GALAXY S22 SPECS AND FEATURES
A source says that the Exynos 2200 chipset is expected to be paired with an AMD GPU. This is something we've heard before, as a very old leak suggested that Samsung was working on a new chipset in collaboration with AMD.
This AMD partnership has since been confirmed, and we now know that it will bring ray tracing and variable rate shading capabilities to the chipset, and therefore possibly to the Samsung Galaxy S22.
That said, one leaker claims that Samsung has struggled with producing this chipset, which could mean that most places could get a Snapdragon instead (possibly the rumored Snapdragon 898). We have since heard that two CPUs will be used and that most regions will receive a Snapdragon version.
Other spec leaks include the claim that the amount of RAM and storage will not change from the Galaxy S21 range.
Indeed, a benchmark for the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus lists 8GB of RAM like its predecessor. This is for the Exynos 2200 model, and the scores obtained are worryingly low - but it looks like the phone must have been in the power-saving mode for some reason, which would explain it.
We have also heard that the Samsung Galaxy S22 range may have vapor chambers to keep them cool. This is a feature that Samsung has used before but not every recent flagship. However, the company is reportedly considering bringing them back for its 2022 flagships, possibly including the Galaxy S22 range.
Keeping the phone's interior cool is important to maintain optimum performance, however, vapor chambers aren't the only way to achieve this, so it's not necessarily a loss if you don't end up with a Galaxy S22 one.
Lastly, it's also rumored that the Galaxy S22 Ultra will support Samsung's S Pen stylus, which is likely what the S21 Ultra does. However, the upcoming phone may have a slot for it, which the S21 Ultra does not have.
WHAT WE WANT TO SEE FROM SAMSUNG S22
While we wait to hear more about the Samsung Galaxy S22, we put our heads together to think about some of the improvements we'd like the company to see in its next flagship series.
1. Bring back microSD support
It's a simple one, and it's a clear step up from Samsung, as the company has almost always offered microSD support in its smartphones. For those unclear on the situation, the Samsung Galaxy S21 range doesn't have a microSD card slot, which means you won't be able to expand the storage.
Bought 128GB Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra? No matter how long you use the phone, you're stuck with the amount of storage you have. This is the case with other brands like Apple, but we liked it when Samsung introduced the option to expand your storage.
2. Include better storage options
On the subject of storage, the Galaxy S22 range should offer more storage options for people to choose from. This is especially true if the company decides that it doesn't want to offer microSD card support again.
For example, the Galaxy S21 is only available in 128GB and 256GB storage sizes. If you want more space, you'll have to opt for the larger Galaxy S21 Ultra.
3. Drop the price further
The Samsung Galaxy S21 range has seen a price drop compared to the 2020 smartphones, and this is a commendable achievement on the part of the company, but we would like to see a further drop in prices in 2022.
Of course, this is a big question. The Galaxy S21 Ultra is packed with top-end technology, and it is unlikely that the company will be able to reduce the price further than the 2021 phones.
That said, there were a lot of conspicuous drops when comparing the Galaxy S21 to the Galaxy S20. If the company continues to offer slightly lower specs than we're used to, we'd like to see a further price drop to reflect that.
4. Make the standard editions more exciting
The Samsung Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 Plus might not be the most exciting smartphones out there, but they are a great option nonetheless. We gave each of them four stars on TechRadar, and we went up to four and a half stars for the slightly more innovative Galaxy S21 Ultra.
We don't know how, but we would like to see some more features in those two cheaper handsets which are almost certain to launch in 2022. We would like to see the company bring top-end features like the S Pen stylus. Support or 100x digital zoom telephoto camera.
The Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 Plus were slight downgrades over their predecessors, so we wish Samsung could make the next model more exciting when it arrives in 2022.
5. Avoid Glasstic
It's not something everyone cares about, but the Galaxy S21 moved away from a glass rear and switched to a glassy back. That's Samsung's name for plastic and glass hybrid, and it doesn't feel that premium.
Both the Galaxy S21 Plus and Galaxy S21 Ultra are clad in glass, and we'd like to see the company opt for that material on every Samsung Galaxy S22 model considering the price of these smartphones.
6. Increased stylus support on the Ultra
You no longer need to buy a Galaxy Note smartphone to experience the benefits of Samsung Stylus; Now you can opt for Galaxy S21 Ultra. We found the stylus feel to be helpful, and it's a great option for those who want to have an accessory.
That said, S Pen support isn't as widespread as it is on the Galaxy Note range. For example, you'll need to opt for the S Pen Pro to be able to get some features, but it's not available yet. We're hoping in 2022 to see Samsung's S Pen functionality build more fully to its S series.
